The ST-45Y adds Y-axis motion to our large-bore ST-45 to create a large-frame turning center with a generous work envelope and secondary milling capabilities. The addition of Y-axis motion, C-axis interpolation, and live tooling allows milling, drilling, and tapping for increased machine capabilities. This machine offers an excellent combination of performance, capacity, and value.

*Haas machines are designed to operate on 220 VAC (200-240 VAC) power. An optional internal high-voltage transformer (380 - 480 VAC) is available for all models, except the Desktop Machines, CL-1, CM-1, and SR Series routers. This optional high-voltage internal transformer is not field installable; it must be ordered with the machine.

Haas machines destined for Europe and the UK are configured with an internal high-voltage non-isolated transformer to operate on 400 VAC, except the Desktop Machines, CL-1, CM-1, and SR Series routers.

ATTENTION! Optional high-performance spindles may have a higher power requirement than the standard spindle. However, if the spindle horsepower (kW) does not change, the power requirement remains the same. Verify the power requirement before running power for your machine.

Overview

The ST-45Y is a complete redesign of our large-frame, big-bore ST-45 turning center, with the addition of Y-axis motion and full C-axis interpolation. Using the BMT75 mounting configuration for the live tooling, the ST-45Y is now capable of handling milling, drilling, and tapping features – eliminating the need to transfer parts to another machine to perform second ops.

BMT75 Turret

The Haas 12-station BMT75 turret provides extra-rigid mounting for turning and boring tools to improve cutting performance, and offers additional tool clearance when working with a tailstock. Industry-standard toolholders install easily, without additional alignment, to reduce setup times. The turret is available in both static and driven-tool versions.

The BMT75 turret with live tooling allows secondary operations – milling, drilling, slotting, and tapping – on the face of the part and around the diameter. The ability to turn and mill complex parts and perform multiple operations on one machine increases throughput, reduces handling, and improves accuracy.

A 24-station (half-index) BMT75 turret is available, which provides twice the number of programmed tool stations, for better use of tooling, increasing your available tool stations to 24, with 12 stations able to accept driven tools.

Large-Bore Spindle

The ST-45Y features an A2-11 spindle nose with a 7.0" (178 mm) through-bore. The machine does not include a chuck or hydraulic union standard; however, an 18" (457 mm) 3-jaw chuck kit is available that includes the draw tube, rotating union, and adapter. With the chuck and draw tube, the through-bore is reduced to 6.5" (165mm).

A rear spindle nose option (A2-11) is also available, which provides dual-chuck capability for machining long shafts and rollers.

Increased Wedge Angle

We’ve increased the angle of the wedge from 45 degrees to 55 degrees, which improves the overall chip flow inside the work envelope. This steeper inclination contributes to faster chip evacuation when using a chip conveyor (optional). 

WiFi Connectivity Standard

All Haas machines come standard with built-in WiFi for fast, wireless connectivity between the Haas control and a local area network. Use WiFi to easily share and transfer files wirelessly, and monitor your machine remotely via HaasConnect mobile machine monitoring. It is easily set up through the Haas control, and supports Netshare capabilities.

Automatic Door (Optional)

The Haas Auto Door is available on the redesigned machines, reducing operator fatigue, and simplifying automation. The Auto Door opens the machine doors automatically via an M-code, or can open them manually via a button on the control pendant. This reduces operator fatigue during repetitive machining operations, and allows for unattended operation when used with a robotic loader or our optional APL. The doors close automatically at Cycle Start, and can be controlled via settings to open at the end of a cycle, or at an Optional Stop.

NOTE: M-code activation requires the machine to receive a cell-safe signal from a robot, or for a light curtain to be installed. Availability my vary by region. Not available in Europe, except with robot and APL installations.
