NOTE: All specifications listed are for the standard machine configuration. Optional equipment may change the machine’s specifications.

*Haas machines are designed to operate on 220 VAC (200-240 VAC) power. An optional internal high-voltage transformer (380 - 480 VAC) is available for all models, except the Desktop Machines, CL-1, CM-1, and SR Series routers. This optional high-voltage internal transformer is not field installable; it must be ordered with the machine.

Haas machines destined for Europe and the UK are configured with an internal high-voltage non-isolated transformer to operate on 400 VAC, except the Desktop Machines, CL-1, CM-1, and SR Series routers.

**Optional tool changers may have a different max tool size than the standard tool changer. Extra-large tools may require two adjacent pockets empty between tools. Click here for toolholder specifications.

ATTENTION! Optional high-performance spindles may have a higher power requirement than the standard spindle. However, if the spindle horsepower (kW) does not change, the power requirement remains the same. Verify the power requirement before running power for your machine.

† Air consumption on 40-taper DC Series machines may be higher, when Through-Tool Air Blast (TAB) is activated.

    Overview

The UMC-750 and UMC-750SS have been redesigned to incorporate all the design improvements engineered into our larger UMC-1000 and smaller UMC-500 – completing the upgrade of our full line of 5-axis universal machining centers.

    Universal Machining Center Design Improvements:

    • Cycloidal rotary drives
    • Lighter operator door
    • Front-mounted control pendant
    • Easy-access operator convenience features
    • Larger side-window
    • Stiffer base casting
    • Standard rollaway coolant tank

    Cycloidal Rotary Drives

The cycloidal rotary drive system – designed for machine tools and robotics – provides a great combination of speed, accuracy, and durability on both the B and C axes. The rugged design provides long service life, with little or no maintenance, and is especially durable in a crash. The cycloidal rotary drive can be back driven to absorb energy from an impact. The shock-load capacity is 5 times the rated torque of the gearbox, and the entire gearbox is a simple drop-in replacement, should damage occur.

    Operator Door and Control Pendant

The UMC-750 door now mounts inside the enclosure, which raises the bottom of the enclosure opening, and provides better chip control. The internal mounting design of the door allows the control pendant to be mounted to the front of the machine, in an operator-friendly position.

    Operator Convenience Features

The UMC-750’s operator convenience features are mounted to the front of the machine for easy access, including a toolholder storage rack, work table, toolholder vise, storage tray, and washdown hose.

    Side-Window Design

Moving the control pendant to the front of the UMC-750 allowed us to enlarge the side window and make it slide open. This provides access to the machine’s platter, and also allows a pallet pool or other automation to be added to the machine.

    Base Casting and Coolant Tank

The UMC-750 base casting is stiff and compact, improving cut performance, and allowing the use of our standard 55-gallon (208 liter) rollaway coolant tank, for easy cleaning and maintenance. The coolant tank also accepts our Oil Skimmer and Coolant Refill options to further enhance productivity.

UMC COMPARISON – Work Envelope ≠ Machine Travels

In 5-axis machining, your part and workholding must be able to rotate and tilt within the workspace, allowing you to reach all areas of the part, without interference or collisions. This yields a cylindrical work envelope that is smaller than the machine travels.

    Universal Machining Center Design Improvements

Engineering Manager Eric Wood talks with Bryan O’Fallon about all of the features that have been changed on the newly released UMC-750 and 750SS. Highlighted by a new operator door and available HSK spindle, Eric also addressed issues like user friendliness, increased performance, better chip evacuation, rotary crash worthiness, and much more.

    Precision Machining on UMC-750
The UMC-750 is an affordable solution for 3+2 machining and simultaneous 5-axis work, on a platform that is intuitive and easy to use.
    Simplify 3+2 and 5-Axis Machining
Using DWO/TCPC (Dynamic Work Offsets / Tool Center Point Control), you can create your CAM program ahead of time, and then place the workholding and part anywhere on the table, with no need to repost your program!
    Single Setup Machining
Typically, this part would require multiple setups and operator handling, but the UMC-750 will produce the finished part in a single setup, with increased accuracy.
    5-axis for any shop
In the first video in our “Don’t Fear 5-Axis” series, John Nelson explains why 5-axis machining is much simpler than it has ever been, and why any shop can be a 5-axis shop.

    L&S Machine Company

“Our company has all 5-axis machines, so that we can support a variety of different industries. We got into 5-axis machining because it cuts the machining operations down. The first operation can pick up five of the six sides of a part, and the final operation can pick up the final side that’s bolted down to the table. Having all the same machines allows us to seamlessly schedule work between this facility and our San Jose facility, and having the same controller allows us to transfer the program to either location.”

    – Rob DiNardi, President

    Skrawpol

“Skrawpol Tool Factory is a modern Polish company founded in 2010. The main subject of the company’s activity is the manufacturing of cutting tools and special tools. We have a modern machine park, enabling turning and milling with high accuracy on three, four, and five axes. Our machine park includes the latest models of numerically controlled machine tools from Haas, which translates to the high quality of the tools we manufacture. We have a team consisting of qualified employees, both young people and those with many years of experience in the industry, involved in building our company.”

    – Paweł Zoń, Co-Owner

    DesignWerkes

“Our company serves the commercial transportation industry, as well as the aerospace industry. We design and build the power conversion systems and the accessory power systems for hybrid public transportation buses. For the aerospace industry, we’re making parts for commercial and military avionics.

With the UMC-750, we’re machining five out of the six sides of the parts that we need to build, and we’re also doing simultaneous 5-axis work, with radiuses between ledges, which we couldn’t do without the 5-axis capability.

    – Steve Kille, President & Owner

    Boulevard Machine & Gear

“I knew it was time to invest in technology, so in 2009, we bought our first Haas machine. The UMC-750 that we have now allows us to complete jobs that used to take 4, 5, or even 10 setups on a 3 -axis machine, in just 1 or 2 setups. This allows us to take on more work.”

    – Susan Kasa, President

    Centerline Precision Technologies

When Centerline Precision Technologies of Edinburgh, IN – a longtime Haas shop – purchased their first UMC-750, they didn’t think they had the work for it. It was “more like a fishing lure,” says owner Scott Bringle. But, “it’s made a lot of the work we already had so much easier and more efficient, and with having that 5-axis technology, it’s brought a lot of new work to us.”

    Core Moto

Core Moto designs and manufactures forged wheels for superbikes that compete in top-level road racing, yet are also street-legal. According to Luke McCracken, President of Core Moto, their goal is to produce the world’s lightest and strongest monolithic-hub forged wheel, while giving it some style. The wheels are machined on a Haas UMC-750SS 5-axis universal machining center, which removes upwards of 75% of the material in milling.

    Customer Spotlight - Pragmatic Manufacturing

Having purchased more than 20 Haas CNCs in a former business venture, the management team at Pragmatic Manufacturing decided to standardize on Haas mills and lathes from day one. Now celebrating 5 years in business, Pragmatic Manufacturing has become a leader in serving the aerospace and defense industries.

    Customer Spotlight - Metalogic Industries

Four years ago, Massachusetts-based fabricator Metalogic Industries purchased their first Haas UMC 5-axis universal machining center to reduce setup times on complex parts they manufacture for land-based gas turbine power generators. 5-axis machining helped take Metalogic in a whole new direction, and today, they have a total of 7 Haas UMCs, along with more than a dozen additional Haas vertical machining centers.
